Why Personal Training?

Whilst waying up the benefits and negatives about studying to become a personal trainer you might overlook the many rewarding positives you can achieve in our daily work. If you are serious about wanting to help someone with their health, fitness and any specific goals they might have then, being a PT can be one of (if not the) best jobs out there.

With over 10+ years’ experience between our N.I. Fitness Academy team we have come up with the following five points which we believe are the main reasons someone should want to be a PT:

  1. You get to pick your own working hours: that’s right - being self-employed means you get to decide when you work. Not a morning person? No problem, work the evenings. Want weekends off? Then have them off. Of course, at the start and throughout your career you need to work around clients to build up that rapport and base that you can then say I work these specific hours but once you have established your working life and hours then the rest of the time in your life is yours.

  2. You can specialise in an area you enjoy: this could be strength and conditioning, medical issues, mental health or nutrition. Whatever path you decide to go down as a personal trainer there is multiple CPD options available to you. Gaining experience and passing exams shows that you are not only doing your job because you want to but also shows that you want to progress throughout your career.

  3. You can help people build their confidence: 100% no better feeling than meeting someone for the first few sessions and they are shy or a bit quiet or maybe are not the best in public spaces and as they develop with their training, nutrition and goals you can see a positive change in their attitude, behaviour and overall confidence.

  4. You can make lifelong friends: to this day I still speak to people I have trained, attend old client’s weddings, go on nights out with past and current client’s and have such good rapport that not only am I their personal trainer but also their friend.

  5. You can earn a good income: now this depends on the work you put into your business but to say you can not earn a good income being a personal trainer is crazy. You can charge whatever you want providing you can justify the price and if people see the benefit in your training programmes and you as a their trainer then they will decide to stay with you for longer than initially discussed.

Overall, that is our five main reasons for deciding on taking that next step and studying to become a personal trainer. If you have any further questions about the courses, we offer and life as a personal trainer then please get in touch and one of the team will get back to you at their earliest convivence.
