Level 2 Gym Instructor

The level 2 gym instructor course is the minimum requirement a student needs to be able to legally work within the fitness industry as an instructor, take classes, write programs and offer health, fitness and nutritional advice. Completing this course will lead students to their level 3 in personal training.

This qualification will further develop learners, who have existing knowledge and skills in gym instruction, to enable them to pursue a career in personal training Students will develop a deeper understanding from units they learnt in their level 2 Gym Instructor course including:

Further knowledge of anatomy and physiology applicable to personal training.. Nutrition for exercise, health and fitness. Lifestyle and medical factors that affect well-being.

Level 2 Award in Mental Health Awareness

The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with an understanding and awareness of mental health, common mental health disorders and issues, help reduce stigma and discrimination and encourage people to talk about mental health.

Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Sport and Exercise Performance

This course is designed to provide learners with an in depth understanding of the knowledge required to ensure safe and effective exercise programming for patients with a number of medical conditions, as well as common reasons for referral onto a community-based exercise referral scheme.

Level 4 Certificate in Strength and Conditioning

The purpose of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare, deliver and review strength and conditioning programmes that will help athletes to achieve their performance goals.

During the qualification learners will cover the following:

• The role of a strength and conditioning coach as part of an athlete’s support team.

• Methods of carrying out performance-related needs analysis, measurements and assessments.

• Strategies to analyse and evaluate assessment findings in order to be able to develop and agree short-, medium- and long-term performance goals.

• Planning, delivering and evaluating periodised, performance-related strength and conditioning programmes.
